Rob Fowler::

AS-AP’s founder and Managing Director, Rob Fowler, is recognised globally as an expert in the design and implementation of market-based mechanisms to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. He lives in Sydney, Australia, but travels frequently to China, Europe and North America. He is a regular presenter at international climate change conferences and workshops.

Rob has been an active member of the UNFCCC’s expert register and has provided advice to the Meth Panel, the Registration & Issuance Team, the CDM Accreditation Panel and the JISC on new methodologies, registration of projects and accreditation of verifiers.

He is currently a member of the Technical Advisory Committee for the CDM Gold Standard, and is assisting with the deployment of the Gold Standard VER Registry. Rob is a faculty member for the GHG Management Institute where he assists with course development and serves as an instructor.  He has contributed to the development of standards and protocols including the WBCSD/WRI GHG Project Protocol, the international standard ISO14064, and the Australian Standard for carbon accounting in forests.

Closer to home, Rob is known for his work with the Australian State-based “New South Wales Greenhouse Gas Abatement Scheme” (GGAS), where from August 2003 to June 2006 he drove the implementation and development of many of the scheme’s abatement frameworks, including coal-fired power generation, carbon sequestration in forests, and the distribution of energy efficient light bulbs. He trained auditors, developed administration workflow tools, and educated a variety of participants on the workings and opportunities of this innovative scheme.

Prior to joining GGAS, Rob worked for seven years as a corporate strategy consultant, providing high-value commercial advice to leading corporations across a variety of sectors, living and working in China, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, USA, New Zealand and Australia. He undertook a range of consulting projects in energy, mining, rail transport, air transport, building materials, property development, forestry and commercialisation of hi-tech products.
